A new ferry service just opened, serving Yerba Buena and Treasure Islands. Matt went to see what the new ferry experience was like, and all the changes happening on #YBI.

San Francisco’s newest neighborhood is located in the middle of the San Francisco Bay, on Treasure Island and Yerba Buena Island. The Treasure Island Ferry offers a 10-minute ride to and from the ferry building downtown and is complimentary for island residents. In 2023, a lot has changed on these islands, including a new highway interchange, new parks, and stunning views. The islands offer an incredible view of the city that can’t be found anywhere else, including Signal Point, which showcases a view of four bridges from the Dumbarton to the Oakland Bay to the Golden Gate and the Richmond San Rafael Bridge.

The homes on Yerba Buena Island – from one bedroom condos to land available for your custom built single family dream home – also offer fantastic views of the city, making it an ideal place to live for those who appreciate breathtaking scenery. In terms of the commute, the ferry ride from the islands to the city is only 10 minutes long and offers incredible views of the Bay Area. Matt Fuller, a real estate broker, compares the commute between his office in the Inner Sunset of San Francisco and Hayes Valley, which is 10 minutes by car and 20 minutes by bike.

Comparatively speaking, commuting from these islands makes for a sweet and very San Francisco neighborhood commute. Treasure Island and Yerba Buena Island have transformed into a wonderful place to live, offering stunning views, new parks, and quick and easy access to the city.
