One Oak

Goodbye Donuts, Hello Very Tall Tower! Construction is anticipated to begin in 2019, with completion roughly estimated for 2021. If developed, One Oak will occupy the area along Market St. from 1500 – 1540 Market St. The development site is adjacent to the 1554 Market St. development.

When complete, One Oak will be home to about 300 homes in what you’ll either think of as Hayes Valley or The Hub at Market.

The most recent plans for the site specify 304 new residences, of which 54 will be studio homes, 96 will have one bedroom, 135 will be two-bedroom homes, with about 20 homes that are three or more bedrooms.  A below-ground garage will have enough space for approximately 136 cars.

    More About the Building

    From SF Planning:

“The proposed project entails demolition of an existing fourstory building and parking lot located at 15101540 Market Street and construction of a residential tower with 258 dwelling units over groundfloor retail use. The height of the proposed tower would be 435 feet above street grade to its roof; mechanical equipment and a parapet would extend an additional 20 feet above the roof line. The project would comprise a total of 330,986 gross square feet (gsf) in 37 aboveground levels and two belowground levels. The project would accommodate 69 offstreet parking spaces and 82 bicycle storage units in its basement levels.”

The site was originally going to be home to a building designed by Richard Meier, but the current (2017) site owner has engaged Snøhetta/SCB for a new/updated site design.
