4840 Mission, also known as 4950 Mission St. or 1951 Alemany Blvd. is a proposed development of 428 new homes, of which 175 will be designated as affordable, in the Excelsior neighborhood of San Francisco.
The developer has proposed giving neighborhood preference to Excelsior and District 11 residents for some of the new on-site affordable homes. 41% of the 428 new homes will be affordable housing, which is a substantially higher percentage than most of the new mixed-income residential projects throughout the city thanks to a unique collaboration between BRIDGE Housing, a pension fund, and local developer the Emerald Fund.
Home sizes at 4840 Mission are unknown at this time but 47% of the homes will contain two or more bedrooms. Building amenities are expected to include ground floor retail, a proposed grocery store, and enhancements to the street level environment, but plans continue to evolve based on community feedback.
