    More About the Building

Nestled in the quaint, tree-lined South Park, one of SF’s most dynamic urban settings, this building is uniquely situation on a street that came into existence in 1852! South Park was originally constructed around 1855 as the center of an exclusive residential neighborhood modeled after a square in London, England. South Park was originally designed with 58 homes surrounding a 550-foot grassy oval park. At the time of construction, the block featured the first paved streets and sidewalks in San Francisco while a windmill in the center of the park pumped water for some of the homes.

The second street cut sent wealthy residents fleeing for the heights, and the ’06 quake caused damage to many original buildings. Afterwards, the neighborhood was rebuilt as warehouses, light manufacturing, nightclubs, and hotels. The mixed-use of the neighborhood remains evident to this day.
