3 Great Things About Houses in Glen Park

Glen Park is a quiet neighborhood just to the south of Noe Valley in the central area of San Francisco. The houses and lots are often a bit smaller than those found in neighboring Noe Valley, so they tend to be more affordable. The neighborhood also offers great access to recreation and transportation, particularly for those that commute to the South Bay or Silicon Valley. It also has a reputation as a neighborhood that is a little more low-key and laid back than some of the surrounding neighborhoods. You’ll also find it be a neighborhood filled with plenty of dogs!

While there is lots to love about a house in Glen Park, since no list can be infinite (or can it…) here are three things that are great about Glen Park, San Francisco:

1) Glen Canyon Park. A little redundant, I know, but the outdoor recreation opportunities are phenomenal. The park offers baseball/softball fields, a children’s playground, indoor recreation center with basketball courts, and a large and “wild” canyon with great trails for taking an urban hike. A great place to stretch your legs and get some exercise, no matter what activity interests you! And if sports/nature/hiking/vigorous activity isn’t your idea of a good time, you’ll love finding a comfortable seat from which you can people and pooch watch for hours!

2) Commuting and BART access. Glen Park houses are within a short walk of a BART station, which gives you reliable and quick access to downtown San Francisco or the east bay. Since BART can’t get you everywhere, for those of you headed south to San Mateo or Santa Clara counties (or elsewhere in Silicon Valley), there is direct freeway access to I-280 from the neighborhood. It’s the rare neighborhood in San Francisco that offers both easy freeway and easy public transit access.

3)The Village. The Glen Park village area (centered around Diamond and Chenery streets) offers various dining options, good shopping, a small grocery store, and a relatively new San Francisco branch library. While it is certainly a hilly neighborhood, it is also a very walkable place filled with friendly neighbors and great shops.
